How to Reach Us

Emergency Issues

If you have an emergency with your horse or urgently need to speak to Dr. Hanes, call 650-851-1569. Following the greeting, press 1. You will be placed on hold while your call is redirected to my home and cell phones, giving me the opportunity to answer and take your call directly. Occasionally I am not in cell phone service range, in which case your call will be directed to voice mail. As soon as I am able to see messages, I will be alerted of your call and will be able to return it.

Scheduling an appointment

Routine appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. There are two ways you can schedule a routine appointment with our office:

  1. The best way is to call Sue at 650-851-1569 during her regular office hours (Monday through Thursday from 1:30pm to 5:30pm). She can address your scheduling needs and make an appointment at that time.
  2. The second way is to call that same office number and press option 2 which will take you to voice mail. You may leave a detailed message and your call will be returned by either Sue or myself from the office within 24 hours.

Note regarding voice mail: Often times clients feel that a situation may not be an emergency but they are still anxious to consult with me. I will do the best I can to return your calls; however, if I am not in the office I won't be able to confirm a day and time to see your horse until Sue or I can review the schedule.

Didja Know?

Never remove the saddle pad and expose a wet back either to the hot rays of the sun or to sudden cooling. The pressure of the saddle restricts the blood supply and thus weakens the tissues of the back. In this condition, a hot sun more readily burns or inflames the skin, while sudden cooling contracts the blood vessels and prevents the proper return of the blood to nourish the tissues.
